It’s 4:30 in the morning. I cannot stop thinking about how the new toy turned out.

It landed at our gym at 5:20 pm last evening. I quickly unloaded it and ran off to coach.

I woke up earlier than usual. Rode over to the gym by 4:20 am. I quickly setup the new toy. It took 5 minutes. I loaded a t-bell with 70 kgs. And slid on the toy. The fit was perfect. No warping from welds or handling. Phew.

I walked over to the other end, picked it up and place it gently on my shoulder. There are no cushions yet. And I did a few squats. It worked!

There’s a mild squeak. But that can be ironed out.

It doesn’t matter how old I get. When I get a new toy, I need to play with it asap and know if it works. And lives up to the hype and expectations in my head. Making the stuff we play with is a dream for me.

But with no prototypes, advanced modelling and lots of hand welding, polishing, eye-balled lathe work, there’s an element of uncertainty.

And then when it works as we dreamt up, it’s just the best feeling.
